چکیده

Let M be a compact Riemannian manifold with boundary ∂M and L = ∆+ Z for a C1-vector field Z on M . Several equivalent statements, including the gradient and Poincaré/log-Sobolev type inequalities of the Neumann semigroup generated by L, are presented for lower bound conditions on the curvature of L and the second fundamental form of ∂M . The main result not only generalizes the corresponding known ones on manifolds without boundary, but also clarifies the role of the second fundamental form in the analysis of the Neumann semigroup. Moreover, the LévyGromov isoperimetric inequality is also studied on manifolds with boundary. AMS subject Classification: 60J60, 58G32.

A ug 2 00 9 Heat Kernel Inequalities for Curvature and Second Fundamental Form ∗

Let L = ∆ + Z for a C2 vector field Z on a compact Riemannian manifold M possibly with a boundary ∂M . Let Pt be the (Neumann) diffusion semigroup generated by L, and let pt(x, y) be the corresponding heat kernel w.r.t. a volume type measure μ. We prove that Ric −∇Z ≥ K and ∂M is either convex or empty if and only if the entropy inequality

A ug 2 00 7 Stability properties for the higher dimensional

This paper concerns some stability properties of higher dimensional catenoids in Rn+1 with n ≥ 3. We prove that higher dimensional catenoids have index one. We use δ-stablity for minimal hypersurfaces and show that the catenoid is 2 n -stable and a complete 2 n -stable minimal hypersurface is a catenoid or a hyperplane provided the second fundamental form satisfies some decay conditions.

A ug 2 00 9 Robin Heat Semigroup and HWI Inequality on Manifolds with Boundary ∗

Let M be a complete connected Riemannian manifold with boundary ∂M , Q a bounded continuous function on ∂M , and L = ∆+Z for a C1-vector field Z on M . By using the reflecting diffusion process generated by L and its local time on the boundary, a probabilistic formula is presented for the semigroup generated by L on M with Robin boundary condition 〈N,∇f〉+ Qf = 0, where N is the inward unit norm...

Abstract Probability distributions which can be obtained from superpositions of Gaussian distributions of different variances v = σ2 play a favored role in quantum theory and financial markets. Such superpositions need not necessarily obey the Chapman-Kolmogorov semigroup relation for Markovian processes because they may introduce memory effects. We derive the general form of the smearing distr...

A subsemigroup S of a semigroup Q is a left order in Q and Q is a semigroup of left quotients of S if every element of Q can be expressed as ab where a, b ∈ S and if, in addition, every element of S that is square cancellable lies in a subgroup of Q. Here a denotes the inverse of a in a subgroup of Q. We say that a left order S is straight in Q if in the above definition we can insist that aR b...
